Beltone is proud to introduce you to Dr. Austin Black, Director of Audiology and Veteran Services Audiologist. With over 22 years of experience in hearing healthcare, Dr. Black brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and personal understanding to every patient he meets.
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Black began his academic journey at the University of Kentucky, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree before completing both his Master’s and Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) at the University of Louisville. He spent much of his career helping patients at Beltone in Louisville before relocating to Northwest Florida, where he now provides care to veterans and the wider community.
What makes Dr. Black’s approach especially unique is his personal experience with hearing loss. Having grown up with hearing challenges himself, he knows firsthand the frustrations and obstacles that many of his patients face every day. This perspective allows him to connect deeply with those he serves—bringing empathy, understanding, and practical solutions that improve their quality of life.
Patients often remark that what they value most about Dr. Black is his ability to truly relate to their experiences. He not only provides expert hearing care, but also reassurance and encouragement that they’re not alone in their journey.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Black has been an active leader in the audiology field, serving on the Kentucky Academy of Audiology board. He’s also musically gifted, assisting with his church band, and he enjoys sharing his love of music with others. At home, he’s a dedicated husband and father of two. In his free time, he can often be found playing music, following the latest technology trends, or playing video games with his kids.
With his decades of experience, professional leadership, and personal connection to hearing loss, Dr. Black brings a rare combination of expertise and empathy to his role. At Beltone, he’s passionate about helping patients not just hear better, but live better.
